Tutor Break service terms
By submitting a form, confirming a match or continuing to use the relevant service, you acknowledge these terms and the privacy notice. Important fees and timing will also be confirmed by message at matching.
1. Scope and Tutor Break’s role
These terms apply when a tutor registers, maintains a profile, accepts a case, uses the private tutor account or contributes content. Tutor Break provides matching administration and is not the tutor’s employer, school, tutoring centre or legal representative.
A tutor teaches independently and is responsible for professional conduct, availability, tax obligations and compliance with applicable law. Registration does not guarantee approval, publication or any number of cases.
2. Registration, qualifications and public profile
Provide truthful, complete and reasonably supportable education, public-exam results, experience, subjects, districts, rate and availability. Do not impersonate another person, exaggerate results or submit documents that do not belong to you.
Tutor Break may organise, translate, shorten, hold, reject or remove information to protect accuracy, privacy and safety. Publication is not a guarantee by Tutor Break of every qualification and does not promise permanent display.
3. Accepting a tutoring case
Accept only cases that you have the ability, time and appropriate conditions to teach. Check the curriculum, subject, year, district or online mode, schedule, rate and first-lesson arrangement before accepting.
A case is confirmed only when Tutor Break sends the proposed arrangement and both sides accept it in writing. Do not transfer a case to another person without the student/parent’s and Tutor Break’s prior agreement.
4. Student contact details and the 24-hour response rule
After the student/parent’s prepaid tuition is confirmed, Tutor Break normally sends the student-side phone or WhatsApp contact to the tutor by WhatsApp two days before the first lesson. If it has not arrived by then, the tutor should contact Tutor Break promptly for follow-up.
The tutor must contact the student/parent within 24 hours after receiving the contact details and begin arranging the lesson. Unexplained unavailability for more than 24 hours may be treated as an inactive response. If it causes the tutoring arrangement to be cancelled, the tutor must reimburse the full administration fee connected with that match.
For sudden illness or a reasonable emergency, notify Tutor Break as soon as practicable and provide a reasonable explanation. Tutor Break will consider the available records before deciding whether reimbursement is due.
5. Administration fee and later tuition
Matching registration is free. Unless the match confirmation says otherwise, an amount equal to the first lesson’s tuition is Tutor Break’s one-off administration fee. The tutor must not collect that first-lesson amount again from the student/parent.
From the second completed lesson onward, the student/parent pays the agreed tuition directly to the tutor. The tutor must issue any agreed acknowledgement, keep accurate records and handle their own tax obligations. Do not conceal the first lesson, falsely report a cancellation or move it off-platform to avoid the administration fee.
6. Lesson delivery, changes and cancellation
- Contact the student promptly, prepare, attend punctually and teach for the full agreed duration.
- Confirm material schedule, location, mode or rate changes in a message that can be retained.
- During the first two weeks, promptly tell Tutor Break if the student requests a change; the student-side 24-hour notice and one-change rule may apply.
- If you cannot attend, notify the student and Tutor Break as early as possible. Repeated lateness, absence or unexplained loss of contact may lead to suspension or removal.
7. Professional conduct, safeguarding and privacy
- Treat students and households respectfully; do not harass, discriminate, threaten, use improper language or make unrelated sales approaches.
- Use student contact details only for the matched tutoring arrangement and do not disclose them to another person.
- For minors, maintain appropriate professional boundaries and communicate material arrangements with the parent or guardian.
- Do not record, film or take screenshots without notice and any consent required by law.
8. Tutor account and profile amendments
The private account is only for the tutor whose Google identity has been linked. Do not share a session, access another tutor’s record or bypass controls. Approved tutors may amend designated public fields; identity links, tutor IDs, private contact data and approval status remain controlled by Tutor Break.
A material source change may require renewed review and can make an older profile poster stale. Tutor Break may pause a profile where information cannot reasonably be checked or creates a privacy, rights or safety risk.
9. Study contributions and intellectual property
A contributor must own or have permission to submit the content. Do not reproduce protected exam papers, answers, notes or third-party articles in full, and do not include private contact details or harmful false statements.
Contributions remain private drafts until separately approved. The tutor retains underlying rights and grants Tutor Break a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to review, edit, translate and display an approved contribution under the tutor ID on Tutor Break’s website or social channels.
10. Suspension, disputes, liability and contact
Tutor Break may pause a profile, invalidate a case, restrict an account or refuse further service for false information, fee avoidance, safety risk, harassment, repeated non-response or a serious breach. Published evidence may be retained where necessary for audit or dispute handling.
Tutor Break does not guarantee case volume, student conduct, later direct payments, academic outcomes or third-party service availability. To the extent permitted by law, liability is limited to reasonably foreseeable direct loss caused by a failure to exercise reasonable care in matching administration.
